Thomas and
Cathy Meares began their Ministry together shortly after their
marriage in January, 1975. Since that time they have ministered
around the nation and abroad. They are doing missionary (Apostolic)
work in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Guatemala, Honduras,
Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. Many lives have been changed through
their ministry in song and in the Word. They have ministered to
thousands, and been blessed to share ministry with many great men
and women of God.
Thomas and
Cathy are well known in the world of Gospel Music, recording seven
albums over fifteen years. Many of their songs have been played
nationally. Three of these songs, "Riches Won't Hold Me," "Sweet
Victory," and "The God Of Me And You" reached the top fifty on the
charts of The Singing News and The Gospel Voice magazines.
In 1994,
Thomas surrendered to the call to preach and along with his wife
Cathy founded Omega Christian
Center in Lumberton, NC. During
their seven years of pastoring they had many accomplishments,
including helping missionaries in the Dominican Republic establish
and build churches and the first Christian school in the city of Le
Vega.
In 2001, Thomas and Cathy traveled as associates with Dr.
Mike Murdock. This season of mentorship was valuable in preparing
them to fulfill the call on their lives to train the church body to
pursue their purpose.
Thomas
graduated from the Ministry Training and Development Institute at
Oral Roberts University and holds a Bachelor of Ministry Degree from
New Covenant School of Ministry. He authored the dynamic book
entitled, "You Decide Your Future," and is working on two other
titles. He also produces and hosts a weekly radio program entitled,
"Kingdom Principles From God's Word."
In addition to
their ministry accomplishments, Thomas and Cathy were also very
successful business owners. From January 1988 through March 2002
they owned and managed Meares Carpet Center, a thriving floor
covering business. At its peak they employed five people in sales
and seven in installation, realizing gross receipts near one million
annually.
Omega Christian Academy was launched
in August 2007. A lifelong dream of Cathy, Omega Christian Academy
provides “Academic Excellence With A Biblical Perspective”. Many
young lives are being challenged and changed by the Christian
education they are receiving at OCA.
OCMI also now operates a Thrift Shop
in Lumberton, NC where donations of household goods are received and
resold as a way to fund mission outreaches.
Thomas and Cathy live in Lumberton,
NC where they give oversight to the ministry as well as pastor Omega
Christian Center. Thomas also travels to the nations, teaching
kingdom principles and encouraging the body of Christ to excel by
applying those principles.
